A finely worked French silver tastevin by Marc Parrod, executed in first standard (.950) silver and conceived as an interpretation of 18th-century forms.

Parrod, active in Dijon in the early 20th century, was known for creating “fantasy” tastevins that drew on earlier regional styles while incorporating imaginative elements.

The bowl is richly decorated with repoussé grape clusters, vines, leaves, and raised “perles” to reflect light as an aid to judging a wine's color. The hammered bottom departs from Parrod’s more typical treatment, referencing a more rustic 17th century form.

The tab handle is engraved with a cluster of grapes enclosed within a heart, along with the inscription “Le bon vin réjouit le cœur” (“Good wine gladdens the heart”), reinforcing the traditional association between the tastevin and conviviality.

In keeping with Parrod’s practice, the piece is further engraved with a fictionalized historical attribution—Beaune, 1821, and the name Michelot—blending historical reference with artistic invention.

The tastevin is fully marked with Parrod's hallmarks and French first standard (950/1000 pure) silver marks.

A strong and characteristic example of Parrod’s work, combining technical skill, historical reference, and decorative richness in a highly collectible form.
