A pair of Edwardian cufflinks in 14K gold, set with mother-of-pearl and bordered with white enamel.
Each face is centered on a disc of mother-of-pearl, its surface showing the soft, shifting iridescence characteristic of the material. The surrounding enamel provides a clean, continuous frame, giving the design a clear edge and contrast against the gold.
The combination of materials is typical of the period, where pale tones and controlled surfaces were favored over heavier ornament. The effect is quiet but deliberate, with the interest coming from how the surfaces respond to light rather than from applied detail.
The cufflinks are double-sided, with matching faces joined by chain connectors, maintaining the same appearance on both sides in wear.
The cufflinks are unmarked, but are in a style typical of the better Newark jewelers at the beginning of the 20th century. Tested and guaranteed 14K gold.
