A very good Art Nouveau medallist pendant/charm depicting Artemis (Diana in Roman mythology), goddess of hunting, the wilderness, and the moon. The goddess is shown with several of her attributes, including a crescent moon tiara, a bow, and quiver of arrows, and sprays of her sacred plant artemisia. The design was created by Louis Armand Rault, a lead designer for Boucheron (1868-75). The bale is stamped with French silver marks and the medallion bears Rault’s monogram signature.
