A classic 19th century French first standard (950/1000 pure silver) tastevin. The bowl is decorated with convex “perles”, larger concave “cupules”, and elongated “godrons” intended to reflect light through the wine to more accurately judge its color and clarity. Perles and cupules were used for reds and godrons for whites. The rolled strap handle the 18th century style as expressed around the Paris region. The top of the handle is enhanced repoussé decoration of a grape cluster. The underside of the handle is stamped with the “minerve” mark for first standard and with an unidentified master silversmith’s mark “GL.”
