$1,330.00
A very fine 18K yellow gold baptism medal featuring the crowned Virgin Mary against a halo background. The design was created by the sculptor Louis Muller (a winner of the Prix de Rome) for the luxury Parisian jewelry house Arthus-Bertrand in 1937. The edges are worked in a pearled motif that gives the design a Byzantine feel. This medal is from the 1930s and weighs nearly twice the weight of the medals they currently produce. The bail is stamped with French 18K gold marks and with Arthus-Bertrand’s maker’s mark.
