$6,950.00
A substantial French Victorian hinged bracelet in 18K gold, richly decorated with royal blue champlevé enamel and finely chased engraving.
Each arched link is individually hinged, allowing the bracelet to conform comfortably to the wrist while maintaining the visual continuity of a solid bangle. The surfaces are intricately engraved with a repeating foliate motif, either mistletoe or myrtle. In Victorian symbolism, mistleto conveyed, "I surmount all obstacles in the pursuit of love." Myrtle conveyed, "Good luck in marriage."
The enamel work is particularly detailed, with Greek key borders framing the links and checkerboard enamel accents along the vertical hinge bars. Even the tongue of the concealed clasp is fully engraved, reflecting a level of finish typically reserved for higher-quality French production of the period.
Stamped with a French 18K mark, the bracelet combines weight, craftsmanship, and decorative richness in a form that is both visually striking and structurally refined.
A strong example of mid-19th century French enamel work, with both presence and technical interest.
